For the convenience of consumers, more and more manufacturers are choosing to integrate patch panels and fast charging chargers together, while providing AC power expansion and fast charging functions, without the need for additional chargers, making it very convenient to use. Our well-known fast charging manufacturer Beisi has launched a 40W output power fast charging plug board, providing two new national standard five hole sockets and one two hole socket.

 

In addition, it also has three output interfaces of 2C1A, supporting 20W+20W output power, and can quickly charge two Apple phones simultaneously. At the same time, the patch panel also integrates digital protection circuits, supporting input overvoltage, undervoltage, and output overcurrent protection, improving power safety. Below, the charging head network will disassemble the GaN fast charging plug-in board from Beisi to see how the internal design works.

The front of the packaging box is printed with the Baseus brand, product appearance image, name, as well as AC-DC and GaN selling point logos. In addition to the classic black and white color scheme, there are also blue options available for selection.

 

 

The back is printed with a product usage scenario diagram, which can simultaneously power devices such as televisions, air purifiers, mobile phones, and tablets. In addition, detailed product parameters, certification information, etc. are also printed.

 

 

In addition to the socket book, there are also cartoon stickers, user manuals, and warranty cards inside the packaging, and the product is covered in a dustproof plastic bag.

 

 

The blue version is being disassembled in this issue, and the socket body is also wrapped in scratch resistant plastic film, with exquisite details.

 

 

This product continues the design of the Beisi Gallium Nitride desktop socket series, comes with a power cord, and the body is in the shape of a long square pillar.

 

 

The power cord adopts a three pin plug, and the pins are covered in a plastic case.

 

 

The plug has a specification of 10A 250V~on the inside and has passed CCC certification.

 

 

The junction between the power cord and the body is equipped with a rubber sleeve for enhanced protection.

 

 

The AC jack area on the top of the body and the output end casing are all treated with bright surfaces, while the rest are frosted and fingerprint resistant, with a smooth transition between each surface.

Using ChargerLAB POWER-Z KM002C, it was found that the USB-C1 port supports FCP, SCP, AFC, QC3+, and PD3.0 fast charging protocols.

Disassembly of Beisi 40W Gallium Nitride Desktop Socket
 
After gaining a basic understanding of Beisi's desktop socket, let's disassemble it and see how the internal workmanship is.

 

Firstly, pry open the back cover of the patch panel, which consists of an independent module structure consisting of a socket module and a fast charging module.

 

Paste a thermal conductive pad on the fast charging module to enhance heat dissipation performance.

 

The AC input is soldered and connected to the fast charging module, which is then connected to the socket module. Two modules are insulated with Mylar sheets.

Take out the socket module inside the shell, and the corresponding socket of the module has an independent safety door.

 

The socket module adopts an integrated copper strip and PCB board combination welding.

 

The fast charging module is composed of four PCBs welded together into a whole, and components such as transformers and capacitors are welded inside the space enclosed by the PCBs.

 

On the other side, you can see the relay used to control the AC power supply.

 

Split the four small boards into control circuit power supply, fast charging power module, input voltage and current detection control circuit, and output protocol circuit.

 

Through observation of PCBA, it was found that Beisi's 40W 2A1C fast charging plug-in board is equipped with three built-in switching power supplies, which are used for fast charging output, relay control, power detection, and touch functions. The two fast charging power supplies use high-frequency flyback switching power supply with wide voltage output, and the output voltage is fed back to the primary control chip by the protocol chip. The output voltage is adjusted to supply power to the output interface, achieving a single port fast charging and a multi port 5V output strategy. Let's start from the input end to understand the design and materials of the entire charger.

 

The input small circuit board is a voltage and current detection and control circuit, a welding current sampling resistor, a sampling chip, and a relay.

 

On the back of the small board are components such as non isolated step-down switch power supply and control power supply relays.

The input safety regulation X2 capacitor is from KWOKTRAN Guocan Electronics, with a capacity of 0.1 μ F.

 

The input end has a rectifier bridge from PY Pingwei, model ABSR10, specification 1A 1000V.

The non isolated step-down circuit adopts the Li Sheng Mei LN8K05A non isolated step-down converter, which integrates a 750V withstand voltage switch tube internally and supports a 5V fixed voltage output. The output current can reach 150mA, and the peripheral components are simplified.

The detection chip used for measuring AC voltage and output current, from Heli, model HLW8032, is used for measuring AC voltage, current, and power. It is combined with a microcontroller to achieve overvoltage and overcurrent protection function for sockets, ensuring safe electricity use.

The relay for controlling AC output comes from Hongfa, model HF32FV-G, with a contact current of 10A and a coil voltage of 5V, used to control the AC output of the patch panel.

 

Another power control circuit board is welded with LED indicator lights, switch power supply, and control microcontroller, used for overvoltage and overcurrent signal detection and touch control functions.

 

The back of the small board is welded with a transformer, a solid-state capacitor, and an electrolytic capacitor. Solid state capacitor with rubber cap insulation.

 

The voltage drop chip on the small board is from Jingfeng Mingyuan, model S7132S, which is a primary controlled switching power supply chip and is packaged in SOP7.

The SMD Y capacitor comes from Sichuan Teruxiang Technology Co., Ltd., model TMY1681M, which has the characteristics of small size and light weight, making it very suitable for application in high-density power products such as gallium nitride fast charging.

OR-1009 optocoupler is used for state control.

The AC input is also connected to the fast charging power module to supply power to the fast charging power supply, providing two independent fast charging outputs. On the far left side of the fast charging power module are input fuses, varistors, safety X2 capacitors, common mode inductors, welded high-voltage filtering capacitors and differential mode inductors on the right side, two transformers and SMD Y capacitors on the right side, and two filtering solid-state capacitors on the far right side.

 

The specification of the input delay fuse is 3.15A 250V.

 

NTC thermistor screen printing 1R5 is used to suppress the impact current of the fast charging module connected to the power supply.

 

X2 safety capacitor from KWOKTRAN Guocan Electronics, with a capacity of 0.1 μ F.

 

The common mode inductor is wound with insulated wire and enameled wire, and is insulated with a heat shrink tube.

 

The rectifier bridge is from Pingwei, model TMBF310, and specification 3A 1000V.

 

Four high-voltage filtering capacitors are from emerald, of which three are 400V 22 μ F.

 

Another one with a specification of 400V 15 μ F. The total filtering capacitor capacity is 81 μ F.

 

The differential mode inductor is wound with a magnetic ring and insulated with a heat shrink tube.

 

There are two switch power supplies welded to the fast charging module, one of which is a gallium nitride main control chip paired with gallium nitride switch transistor, and the other is a power chip integrated with MOS transistor.

 

The main control chip of the switching power supply adopts Maorui core MK2697A, which is a QR PWM controller optimized for PD/fast charging applications. Its wide VCC operating voltage range (9V-90V) allows it to cover the output range of PD/PPS from 3.3V-23V without the need for additional windings or linear step-down circuits.

 

MK2697 is designed for energy efficiency requirements. Due to the multiple different output voltages of PD/fast charging, an adaptive multi-mode is adopted. It adjusts and works on DCM/QR under different loads and outputs. When under light load, it will work in burst mode to improve efficiency.

 

 

MK2697A provides comprehensive protection functions, including output OVP, OPP, VCC OVP, BROWN-IN/OUT, secondary SR short circuit protection, PIN pin OPEN/SHORT protection, etc.

The other main control chip of the switching power supply adopts Maorui core MK2768, which is a PWM power switch optimized for fast charging applications. Support a wide range of power supply voltage, meet the output of 3.3V-12V, without the need for additional windings or step-down circuits. For energy efficiency requirements, MK2768 adjusts the switching frequency and peak current according to the load to achieve higher efficiency. The chip integrates protection functions such as power overvoltage, SR short circuit, and pin open circuit short circuit protection.

Two OR1009 optocouplers are used for feedback regulation of both outputs.

The USB PD protocol chip adopts Tiandeyu JD6606S. Passed USB PD 3.0 certification TID: 3768. The other protocol chip comes from Cloud Silicon Semiconductor, model XPD738, used for USB-C and USB-A dual port control. XPD738 has passed USB PD3.0 certification (TID: 3479) and supports fast charging protocols such as PD2.0/3.0, PPS, QC2.0/3.0, FCP, SCP, HVSCP, AFC, etc. It is very suitable for application on 1C1A dual port charging devices.

 

XPD738 supports any single port fast charging with dual port output of 5V. When the A port is connected to an Apple charging cable but not connected to an Apple phone, the C port still has fast charging.

The VBUS switch tube for the USB-A port is from Huana, model AET3122CP. It is a 30V withstand PMOS with a conductivity of 8.5m Ω and is packaged in PDFN3030.

Summary of dismantling the charging head network

The fast charging plug-in board launched by Beisi has a cable length of 1.5 meters, two new national standard five hole sockets and one two hole socket. It also has three output interfaces of 2C1A, supporting 40W fast charging output, and can meet the fast charging needs of two Apple phones at the same time. The patch panel also has a built-in touch switch and digital protection circuit, which can automatically cut off the power supply in case of abnormalities, protecting the electrical equipment.
According to the disassembly of the charging head network, this plug-in board is equipped with two built-in switching power supplies for fast charging. One of them uses the Maorui core MK2697A main control chip, paired with the InnoSecco INN650DA04 gallium nitride switch transistor, and the other uses the MK2768 internal integrated MOS transistor main control chip. In terms of output protocol, Tiandeyu JD6606S is used for the USB-C interface, while Yunsi Semiconductor XPD738 is used for the 1C1A interface.

The internal fast charging module of the patch panel is composed of four PCBs welded together, and components such as transformers are welded in the space composed of PCBs. It is filled and fixed with glue to form a whole, increasing strength. Equipped with a separate power chip and metering chip, it supports touch control and abnormal protection functions, making it more reassuring to use.
